Why this matters
Impact
She Builds Africa exists to make the work of African women in architecture visible, credible and connected.
Visibility
Recognised projects are published in an open, permanently accessible online exhibition with named credits, so that the designers can be found, cited and commissioned.
Capability
The brief, criteria and published feedback themes give entrants a rigorous, competition-grade framework for climate-responsive and inclusive design that can be reused in studio and in practice.
Connection
Entrants, jurors, institutions and partners are brought into one pan-African network spanning all five AUA regions, in English and French.
What we measure
- Number of registered entrants and completed submissions by division.
- Country and regional spread across the African continent.
- Language split between English and French entries.
- Institutions represented and repeat participation across cycles.
- Publication and exhibition reach for recognised projects.
Honest limits
The programme does not publish a cash value and does not promise travel, employment, construction, grants or partner funding. Recognition, publication and network access are what we commit to.
